There are few topics that will start a heated debate like, “Who has the best breakfast taco in town?” We are a house divided, with my daughter standing firm with her love for Los Gallos and my son not relenting in his love for Hannah’s (that has sadly closed, but will live forever in the hearts of all New Braunfels.)

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is where you need to go. Los Gallos is a hidden gem and a favorite among the locals of New Braunfels. Their wall is filled with awards for the Best Breakfast Tacos in town.

My go-to order is the bacon, egg, and cheese. It’s a great price at only $3.50 and it’s HUGE!!! I don’t think Los Gallos is aware of the ongoing egg shortage.

If you are looking for something more than a breakfast taco I’m sure you will find it on their extensive menu. They are well known for their breakfast combination plates of huevos rancheros, flavorful migas, and menudo.

Their salsa is also excellent and it’s served with light and crunchy tortilla chips.

Marinas Restaurant and Bar

Marinas is a great place to go for breakfast tacos. We used to live right down the street from Marinas and I used to pick up tacos for everyone at work almost every single day. They are that good!

They don’t just have good food, they also have great prices. My go-to order is a bean and cheese with bacon. It’s made with refried beans, cheddar cheese with crumbled bacon. The crumbled bacon really takes it to another level.

El Nopalito Restaurant

El Nopalito (known as “The Nop” to locals) is one of New Braunels’ longest-standing Mexican Restaurants and a favorite of the locals. With three different locations, you are sure to find one near you.

The Nop is known for their great breakfast tacos as well as their carne asada, enchiladas, and beef fajitas.

Tia’s Taco Hut

Tia’s is New Braunfels’ newest taco place. Not only do they have some of the best tacos in town, but they also have a large menu of great food. You’ll find it all right here at Tia’s, from breakfast plates to specialty plates to delicious nachos.

Tia’s typically has a line at their drive-thru but, don’t be discouraged. It moves pretty quickly and is definitely worth the wait.

Granzin Bar-B-Q

Granzine’s has some of the best bar-b-q in town. but don’t sleep on their breakfast tacos. They have typical choices such as bean and cheese, sausage and egg, and potato and egg. But they also have breakfast tacos with their own spin like the Wurst Taco (Sausage, refried beans, cheese, and jalapeño), Granzin Taco (Carne Guisada, fried potato, and cheese).

Everything they make at Grazines is amazing so you really can’t go wrong with anything. Whether you are grabbing a breakfast taco or a sliced beef sandwich, you’re going to love it.

Also!!! You MUST get a LARGE sweet tea!! Their sweet tea has a cult following in this town. Not only is it delicious, but it’s also a great way to get your caffeine fix.

Rudy’s Bar-B-Q

Another bar-b-q place is making an appearance on our best breakfast taco list. But hear me out! If you’ve never had a chopped beef and egg breakfast taco, you are really missing out. The first time I ordered one, I knew it would become my new favorite. I had no idea how right I was.

Their breakfast menu features 2, 3, and 4-item made-to-order breakfast tacos, as well as breakfast bowls and sausage wraps.

Rudy’s is my go-to restaurant of choice when it comes to breakfast tacos. I know, if you give it a try, you will understand why it is my favorite place.

Butcher Boy

Breakfast is served all day at Butcher Boy! It’s that good! They have all the typical favorite breakfast tacos but are best known for their chorizo & egg taco (made with real Mexican chorizo) and their barbacoa taco (only offered on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

They also have breakfast plates or you can order a regular beef or chicken fajita taco.

Their tacos are made with the freshest ingredients so you can rest assured that you are getting a delicious taco every time.

New Braunfels Tortilleria Mexican Restaurant

New Braunfels Tortilleria is a made-to-order authentic Mexican restaurant.

Not only do they have a long list of breakfast tacos to choose from, but they also have the insta-famous Birria Taco. This taco takes a little extra time to prepare because of all of the deliciousness that goes into it. But it is well worth the wait.

They are also known for their pork chop taco, chicharron taco, and country sausage and egg taco. You’re definitely going to want to add this Tex-mex restaurant to your list of places to eat while in New Braunfels.

Taqueria Jalisco Express

I have not had the chance to eat at this place but I have heard great things about it. They are best known for their breakfast tacos from the typical bacon and egg to their own papas rancheras.

They also offer a wide variety of breakfast plates if you’re looking for more than a breakfast taco. You can get anything from Huevos a la Mexicana to omelets and pancakes.

If you’re looking for something besides breakfast, Taqueria Jalisco Express has a large selection of lunch and dinner plates featuring fajitas, carne asada, and steak ranchero. Their mini tacos are a huge hit with their regulars. The only advice that is offered is to order extra because you are going to love them.

Taco Palenque is not your typical hidden gem breakfast taco place, but they have some pretty tasty breakfast tacos nonetheless.

Their menu features delicious classic tacos like potato and egg, chorizo and egg, and barbacoa as well as breakfast plates like migas with eggs, savory potato and chorizo, and ranchero eggs.

With so many options, you are sure to find something to please the palate of everyone in your family.
