Florida’s Highway 30A is a haven for beach lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and those seeking a laid-back coastal charm. While it may have a reputation for luxury, you don’t have to break the bank to experience the beauty of 30A.
Let’s face it! 30A is NOT a cheap vacation. But, with a bit of planning and savvy choices, you can enjoy all the sun, sand, and fun 30A has to offer without burning a hole in your pocket.

The Best Ways to Save Money While Visiting 30A
Off Peak Tavel:
Opting for off-peak seasons can be a game-changer for your budget. Consider planning your visit during the shoulder seasons when accommodation prices are lower, and the beaches are less crowded. Not only will you save on lodging, but you’ll also have a more relaxed experience.
When traveling during off-peak times, you can typically rent a house for 1/2 to 1/3 of the summer prices. This is a great way to save money.
The best time to visit 30A in my opinion is October. The water is still warm enough to swim. Crowds are smaller so that means less traffic and less crowded beaches.
And the sun sets over the water which makes for a beautiful sunset. The perfect time for an evening stroll on the beach.

Affordable Accommodations:
Instead of splurging on high-end resorts, explore budget-friendly alternatives. Look for vacation rentals, Airbnb options, or budget-friendly hotels along the 30A corridor. Many local accommodations offer comfortable stays without the hefty price tag.
30A is filled with houses for rent. Many of which, are large enough that you can get 2-3 families together to share the rent. Most house rentals include bikes, games, activities and some even offer golf cart rentals.

Cook Your Own Meals:
Dining out for every meal can quickly add up. Save money by cooking some of your meals in your rental accommodation. Visit local grocery stores or farmers’ markets to pick up fresh ingredients and embrace the opportunity to create your own beachside picnic.
I would also recommend making a large grocery stop at Walmart. Publix is a little closer to 30A but it is considerably more expensive. We typically make an initial curbside order at Walmart and then use Publix for the occasional quick trip here and there.

Eat Out Lunch Not Dinner
Let’s face it! You’re on vacation and 30A has some of the most amazing restaurants EVER! So you are going to want to eat out at some point.
Most of the restaurants offer lunch menus that are a fraction of the price of their dinner menus. And the portions are typically huge so you will have leftovers for dinner:). It’s a win-win.
Also, this is the best table at Bud and Alley’s in my opinion. It’s in the shade and has the best-unobstructed view. We typically wait for a table on the patio for a great view. But about a year ago, one of the hostesses told me about this table and it’s been our choice ever since.

30A Happy Hours
Happy hours are a way to enjoy some great food and drinks without busting the budget. And 30A offers some incredible happy hour options. This is probably one of our favorite things to do on 30A and we have been to just about all of them. Read more about 30A happy hours here.

Free and Low-Cost Activities:
Enjoy the stunning natural beauty of 30A without spending a dime. Explore the area’s scenic parks, take a leisurely stroll along the beach, or, my favorite, go on a budget-friendly bike ride. Many parks and public spaces offer free or low-cost activities, allowing you to connect with nature without breaking your budget.
There are several state parks along 3oA that offer beach access, great hiking, and scenic bike trails. A few of our favorites are Grayton State Park and Topsl. The beaches at Topsl are typically much less crowded. If you’re willing to walk a short distance from the boardwalk, you can have the beach all to yourself.
Sunsets on 30A really are spectacular. And they don’t cost a penny:)

Budget-Friendly Beach Days:
Make the most of your time on the pristine beaches without overspending. Bring your own beach gear, snacks, and water to avoid inflated prices at beachside vendors. Look for local rental shops that offer affordable rates on chairs, umbrellas, and water sports equipment.
If you are renting one of the beach houses along 30A, many of them provide beach chairs, umbrellas, and wagons. This will save you a lot of money.
Our beach house is right across the street from a handicap entrance so it is perfect for taking the wagon to the beach. You can load up a large rolling ice chest with food and drinks and you are all set for a day of fun in the sun.
And, this same entrance also has bathrooms available. Which, as you know, are not easy to come by on 30A.
Explore Quaint Coastal Towns:
30A is dotted with charming coastal towns, each with its own unique character. Instead of spending on pricey attractions, explore the local shops, galleries, and markets. Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and Grayton Beach offer a delightful blend of charm and affordability.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the Truman house as you are exploring Seaside. I’ll give you a hint! It’s not Natchez street. You can’t miss it.
One of my favorite things to do is to fill my Yeti with my favorite beverage and head to the Seaside Amphitheater (grassy area). You will often find my husband and me (yes, “ME” is correct) relaxing in the Adirondack chairs people-watching.
The Seaside Amphitheater area is also a great place to have a family picnic. Whether you make your food and bring it with you or grab something from Airstream Row, it’s a perfect place for a picnic.
Seaside also has lots of great shops. Whether you are in the buying mood or just window shopping, you will definitely find lots of unique items. And I will say, they do a great job of offering merchandise in all price ranges. From helpful kitchen items to beautiful art pieces, there really is something for everyone. You can read more about shopping in Seaside here.

Rosemary also has a large grassy area that is great for picnics and games. Their grassy area is flat so it’s a great place to play bocci ball. We actually have a Bocci Ball set at our house for guests to use.
Rosemary Beach is another of my favorite places to shop. From specialty food stores to trendy and beachy clothing stores, you will find it all in Rosemary Beach. Read more about shopping on 30A here.
Free Events and Festivals:
Check the local event calendar for free or low-cost festivals, concerts, and events happening during your visit. These community gatherings not only provide entertainment but also offer a glimpse into the vibrant local culture.
Seaside and Rosemary both have Saturday morning Farmer’s Markets. This is a great way to get out and enjoy the moring without spending a lot of money. You can bring your own coffee from home or grab a cup from Black Bear Bread Co. and sit and listen to the live music.
Or if your like me and love a good mimosa, you can grab one from Modica Market. They are my favorite. I will warn you, they are about $13. They are a bit of a splurge but its a mimosa. It’s not like your dropping $200 on dinner.
Budget-Friendly Transportation:
Consider renting bikes or using affordable public transportation to get around. Biking along the scenic 30A bike path is not only a budget-friendly option but also a fantastic way to soak in the coastal beauty.
Most vacation rentals provide bikes. But if yours doesn’t, there are lots of places to rent bikes along 30A.
Other than going to the beach, I would say biking is probably the most popular activity for 30A visitors. With the traffic during peak season, biking is definitely the preferred mode of transportation – much faster and way more relaxing.
