Homemade Vanilla Extract

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle Vodka doesn't have to be expensive vodka
  • 40 Vanilla Beans

Instructions
 

  • Sterilize bottles either by boiling them, heating them in the oven, or running thru the dishwasher
  • Slice beans lengthwise to expose the flesh of the bean
  • Depending on how tall your bottles are, you may need to cut the beans in half.
  • place the vanilla beans in the bottle at a ratio of 4 beans per 8 ounces
  • Add Vodka to bottles making sure to cover the beans
  • Store in a cool dark place for at least 30 days.
  • Shake the bottles every couple of days. The color will get darker and the flavor stronger with time.
